2021-2024

It has been a while since I last wrote.

My girls have both been thrown into the violence that is “tweenism”. Their high pitched adoring baby voices have toned down into alto adolescents making actually funny jokes (some at my expense, which I dish right back to them) and trying out their own power. They are both trying to find out both who they are and who they want to be.

It is a tedious journey, from child to teen. I want them to have the confidence that us 80s kids weren’t allowed, but I also would prefer to not be 100% grey headed by the time they both hit the “teen” years. So far on the sass alone it isn’t looking good, but shout out to my hair girl Jerica for being there with her dye and bleach ready to take on my head every 8 weeks. 🤣

Pics of the girls on the first day of school this year. 5th and 7th grades.

My days fly by. Somehow I am constantly busy. Between trying to get all the parts of secondhand curriculum at various sales, parenting, keeping my retail beef business going, helping with farm errands and in-law errands and trying to keep up with the household responsibilities I always tumble into bed ready for a good night’s sleep. It’s almost hard to believe that 5 years ago I held down a career as well…. is exhausting just to think about.

I haven’t allowed myself time to relax in a while, and spending relaxing hours horseback is long overdue. I will have to attend to that this fall.

The girls and I spent quite a few afternoons down in Little River – I am hoping we get a few more trips before fall really sets in, but my Sugar Maple is beginning to show signs of changing colors and seasons.

Lynn has kept himself overly occupied on the farm and helping his parents where he can. He is a person driven by principals, and apparently that doesn’t allow for much relaxing either.

We are fortunate to live how we do. Farming, gardening, growing food, selling beef at the farmers market. It is hard, but it is wholesome and I see much benefit to living life this way.
